Mobile Home Property Tax
What Is
It, And How Does It Apply?
|
The Property Appraiser is required by law to
determine how your mobile home (modular or
manufactured home) will be classified for tax
purposes. That determination is based upon whether
it is located on land owned by the home owner or if
it is located on land owned by another.
If you hold title to a mobile home and the land
on which it is situated, and the mobile home is
permanently affixed to the land, you will make
application to the Property Appraiser to have the
property appraised as real property. This
application requires you to purchase an RP (Real
Property) sticker for each mobile home.
Homestead exemption may be allowed if the mobile
home meets the above qualifications and the property
owner meets the qualifications for homestead
exemption. In the event your mobile home does not
qualify for an RP sticker, the law requires that you
purchase an MH (Mobile Home) sticker.
